Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
  • Purpose:
    • Provide a simple and lightweight file transfer mechanism between client and server
    • Facilitate bootstrapping of devices, such as diskless workstations, routers, and switches
  • Vulnerabilities:
    • Weak encryption can make files easily readable by unauthorized users.
    • Without strong authentication, attackers can guess passwords easily.
    • Replay attacks let hackers use intercepted transfers to sneak in harmful data.
    • Poor key management can expose passwords, making them easy to steal.
    • Flaws in validation might let unauthorized users access files or devices.
    • Tools:
      • Nmap
      • Wireshark
      • Metasploit
